Blocking Employers on Indeed

Quick summary

Certain account details may be visible to employers depending on your profile settings. This page will show you how to hide your profile from certain employers on Indeed.

Important: The Block employers feature is only available on mobile and desktop browsers, not on the mobile app.

Getting started

  1. Create an account or sign in.
  2. Go to your profile.
  3. Open the Block employers section by scrolling to the bottom of your profile page, or clicking or taping the three horizontal dots at the top of your profile.
Did you know? We're making some updates to your profile on Indeed. This means that the Block employers option may appear at the bottom of your profile page, or in the three-dot menu at the top.

Using the feature

Blocking employers

  1. Enter the name of the employer you want to block.
  2. Select all relevant matches from the search results.
  3. Click or tap Save.

Unblocking an employer

Click or tap the trash can icon next to an employer to remove them from the list. This will allow them to find your profile again.

Did you know? You can block up to 100 employers.

What happens when you block an employer

When you set your profile to Employers can find you.

Blocked employers won't be able to find your profile or resume in searches when logged into their account.

When you set your profile to Employers can't find you.

No employers will be able to find your profile or resume in searches.

When you apply for a job.

Employers you've blocked can still access your application and profile details if you've applied to a job for that employer.

Important: Blocking isn't guaranteed. To fully prevent any employer from viewing your profile, set your profile visibility to Employers can't find you in your profile settings.

Can't find your employer?

Here are some tips if you don't see your employer listed:

  • Double-check the spelling.
  • Try different versions of the company name.
  • The employer might not be listed on Indeed.
